QuickBooks Online new features and improvements – December 2020
And, with that, it’s a wrap. Another year in the books. Thank you for rising up to the challenge that 2020 turned out to be. Many changes we made this year were designed to help preserve your clients’ financial health. December brings some long-awaited changes to invoicing, along with a few extras that can help speed up your workflow during this busy time of year.
What’s new in December
In a nutshell: Someone who helps their clients with invoices every day shouldn’t have to struggle with their own. The new accountant invoice structure offers a detailed view of billing for each of your clients with easy-to-spot callouts. Tier charges are also now listed out, and prorated charges are explained, making it easy to track month over month.
You let us know that the current invoice structure – where charges are summed up for every client – is not robust enough for your needs. That’s why we’ve enhanced the level of detail available when invoicing, making it easier for you to explain break-ups of charges. Plus, you can also stay up to date on lapsing discounts, without having to wait for care or support to fill in the blanks on mystery items.
In a nutshell: Cleanup is a new, integrated offering from QuickBooks® Live Bookkeeping. Billed on a pay-per-use format, Cleanup can help with tasks, such as reconciling historical accounts (up to the previous year’s tax filing) and categorizing historical transactions (back to your most recent tax filing).
The QuickBooks Live team has started rolling out the Cleanup service, which is an addition to the current Live service that customers purchase along with Ongoing Bookkeeping. We’ve evolved our previous Full Service offering to now charge for both cleanup work upfront, as well as deliver that cleanup within a month’s time. After Live completes a customer’s cleanup work, that customer transitions to the Ongoing service and their regular bookkeeper. Customers are charged monthly based on their expense volume.
For the initial rollout, we’ve prioritized QuickBooks Online customers who meet the following criteria:
- Have QuickBooks files older than 60 days.
- Not currently connected to an accountant or ProAdvisor® through QuickBooks Online Accountant.
- Not currently signed up for Live Bookkeeping.
In the coming months, we’ll be rolling out the new Cleanup offering, along with Ongoing Bookkeeping, to QuickBooks Online customers newer than 60 days, and also to customers entirely new to QuickBooks Online. At this time, we will not be offering Live to small businesses that are connected to a ProAdvisor through QuickBooks Online Accountant. Learn more
