QuickBooks Online New Features and Improvements – February 2019
It takes an extra boost to stay productive in February. The weather’s bitter. The days are fewer. And there’s enough heart-shaped candy around to ride a sugar-crash coma into March.
For help staying on track, check out our latest QuickBooks® Online updates aimed at helping you and your clients cut down on wasted time and energy.
What’s new in February
In a nutshell: This has been one of the top requests among accounting pros, and we’re thrilled to announce it’s here.
With the latest version of the QuickBooks Online app, you can work in multiple clients’ files at once. No sifting through different browsers or signing in and out of various accounts. Just log in once to access all your QuickBooks Online clients in a single place.
How it works: Select the clients you want to work on from the drop-down in the top right corner (where it says “Andrew’s Apples” below).
A new tab will open for the client you choose, and you’re ready to work:
- Open as many tabs and windows as you want to quickly jump between clients and tasks.
- Easily shuffle clients from one tab to another to keep your workflow organized.
- Drag and drop windows anywhere, even across screens.
In addition to multi-client support, the updated app includes all the time-saving functions you already love, such as permanent sign-in, keyboard shortcuts, and auto updates.

In a nutshell: On-the-job injuries can mean steep medical bills. To protect their employees and savings, your small-business clients need workers’ comp insurance (it’s even required by law in 49 states).
In November 2018, we began offering quotes for Intuit’s pay-as-you-go workers’ comp within QuickBooks Online. Now we’ve made it even faster and easier for your clients. Not only can they get a quote, but they can handle the entire shopping and buying experience online.
How it works: To start a quote, your clients need to select Workers from the left navigation.
Below the Workers’ Comp tab along the top ribbon, they’ll see the following screen.
Your clients can start the quote process by selecting Get set up.
We’ll ask your clients for some basic information about their business and employees, then provide their quote.
After getting a quote, your clients can buy their policy directly online. And by setting up automatic payments deducted from their payroll, they can avoid a large upfront premium and keep more of their cash on hand.

That’s all for now, folks.
Until next time, as always, keep your feet on the ground…and your books in the cloud.
