QuickBooks Online New Features and Improvements - January 2017
Welcome to 2017; it’s a new year and no doubt you’re heads down, helping your clients get ready for tax season.
This month, we want to remind you about one of the most recent – and most popular – integrations to QuickBooks® Online Accountant (QBOA), as well as several new features and improvements to QuickBooks Online (QBO). These include Apple Pay for invoices, managing all clients in one place and new payroll pricing.
Apple Pay for Invoices
We’ve added Apple Pay to QBO, making it faster and easier than ever for customers to fill in payment details and pay invoices.
When an invoice is sent by email, customers can click to pay it on our secure website. With Apple Pay, they can now also choose to pay invoices when using Safari on their iPhone, iPad, MacBook or iMac. Customers confirm payments with TouchID or passcodes on their Apple device, and a confirmation will then display on the payment sheet.
Apple Pay on invoices is available for all invoices sent from QuickBooks users who have Quickbooks Payments set up. Customers will see Apple Pay as an accepted payment method, if credit card payments are allowed on an invoice. Customers must have Apple Pay wallet set up, and must be using at least iOS 10 for mobile, MacOS Sierra or Mac for Apple Pay.
Manage All of Your Clients in One Place
Now, it is easy to manage Schedule C and small business clients in a single place. New integration features from QBOA consolidate client management, accounting and tax workflows – all in one location.
We’ve integrated Intuit® ProConnect™ Tax Online (PTO) to streamline client tax and accounting work for small- and medium-sized businesses. Get one-click access to all your tax clients’ files from the QBOA client list (one login, one view). QBOA’s Client Dashboard now displays the tax returns and the status associated with those returns, including e-file status. So, if a client has a rejected e-file, you will immediately see the alerts and can correct them right away.
ProConnect Tax Online offers powerful tools, including more than 20,000 built-in calculations, 5,600 pre-loaded forms, and new data and workflow connections that seamlessly link it with QBOA. Unfortunately, over the year-end holidays, Chrome released an update that rendered some of the links to PTO inoperable. As of Jan. 19, 2017, we have fixed this issue and all links to PTO are working perfectly. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and hope everyone (especially our PTO customers) will check it out. Click here to learn more about PTO integration.
If you don’t know PTO, you can try it free and create a tax return for any of the clients you have within QBOA. Just click “Start Tax Return” from the client dashboard, under the tax column, and you can start a tax return for your client. There is no charge until you want to e-file. ProAdvisors® can also take advantage of the limited time promotion of 25 Free Tax Returns.1
In addition, you can now help your Schedule C clients get organized effortlessly, simplifying your work at tax time, thanks to new integration from QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). QBSE makes life easier for your Schedule C clients with automatic mileage tracking, receipt capture and easy banking connections. You’ll benefit as well, from simple one-click export of Schedule C data, to the ability to access information from a single QBOA client list.
Click here to read more about QBSE integration and/or join our 90-minute recorded QBSE webinar to learn more about the QuickBooks Self-Employed product and how they can incorporate it into their practice.
All QBOA users get a free QBSE account. Try QBSE for free, and then recommend it to your clients.2
QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) released its integration with ProConnect Tax Online (PTO) in early December – customers could see their PTO clients and return statuses in QBOA, and link directly over to that PTO return.
New Payroll Pricing
Small businesses with fewer employees want payroll solutions that fit their needs. We’re meeting that demand by making QuickBooks Online Payroll and QuickBooks Full Service Payroll more affordable than ever. Starting in February, we’ll introduce the following new pricing for these popular solutions.
There are no changes to the accountant wholesale discount, which offers the best per-employee fees and 50 percent off the monthly rate for the lifetime of the subscription.
