QuickBooks Online New Features and Improvements – September 2017

Break out your lunchbox: School is back in session! We’ve traded our beach towels for backpacks, and we’re ready to drop some QuickBooks® knowledge of our own. No need for a #2 pencil—this recap of the latest enhancements and updates in QuickBooks Online for September won’t take long (but there may be a pop quiz later).

What’s New

Coming soon! Create repeat projects in QuickBooks Online Accountant

Accounting professionals, do we have some (great) news for you. It’s the joy of a brand-new box of crayons, the A on the test you thought you bombed, and Pizza Day in the cafeteria rolled into one. Coming soon, you’ll be able to create repeating projects within QuickBooks Online Accountant, right from the Work tab. Experience effortless organization and peace of mind (no more missed tasks or deadlines), all while saving time on manual data entry.

This feature has been the #1 request of QuickBooks Online Accountant users, and we’re thrilled that it’s almost ready for you. When creating a repeating project, you’ll be able to specify project frequency (weekly, monthly or yearly), and customize weekday occurrence and end date.

Coming soon! New Apps tab in QuickBooks Online Accountant

Story time and naps. Mashed potatoes and Salisbury steak. Substitute teachers and slideshows. School was filled with things that were better together—and now, QuickBooks has partnered with select apps to make life a little easier for grown-ups like you. Soon, you’ll be able to add apps within QuickBooks Online Accountant to help you simplify everyday tasks, streamline data entry, and expand the capabilities of QuickBooks.

You’ll be able to:

  • Get more done. Digitize the AP/AR process with Bill.com, sync receipt data in a snap with Receipt Bank, manage expense reporting with Expensify, and more.
  • Set up in a snap. Access new or existing apps from the new Apps tab. Setting up an app is simple, whether it’s for your firm or directly within your clients’ books.
  • Stay in control. When you add apps on behalf of your clients, you’ll be able to ensure the collected data is organized and in the correct place within QuickBooks, right from the start. When you add apps on behalf of your firm, you’ll be able to customize settings and optimize performance to ensure you’re getting the most out of each app.

That’s all for now! We’ll have more updates for you in October. Until then, study hard, always break for recess, and stay out of the principal’s office (well, try to, anyway). Class dismissed!
