Announcing upcoming innovations, changes to QuickBooks pricing, and FAQs

On May 27, 2025, you received an email announcing upcoming innovations and pricing changes for QuickBooks Online products and services. Below are answers to common questions about these changes.

Q: Why are you increasing prices?

A: Our pricing will be changing, as we invest in innovations to introduce a more powerful QuickBooks Online that delivers a more efficient way for you to run your firm and help grow your clients’ businesses. Detailed information is below.

Coming soon to QuickBooks, an insightful combination of AI automation working overtime, paired with your trusted guidance to deliver the best outcomes for your clients. All in one place, with only one job to do—give you and your clients time and confidence to grow your businesses. Here's what to expect:

  • More efficiency and time savings: Automation and AI agents are built directly into QuickBooks workflows to complete repetitive tasks for you and your clients, increase accuracy and compliance, and streamline operations.
  • Easier collaboration with your clients: Efficient communication with clients is important to your working relationship. With better collaboration tools, you and your clients can seamlessly communicate and collaborate in QuickBooks to eliminate time consuming back and forth.
  • Simplicity and convenience, all in one place: With the launch of our customizable interface, we’re combining even more QuickBooks business tools and third-party apps to work seamlessly together. We’re making it easier to do the most critical jobsall in one placeincluding customer management, accounting, expenses, payments and payroll. Data flows between tools, enabling intelligent insights.

Our new pricing reflects the value of both recent and upcoming innovation.

QuickBooks Online Pricing

Q: What QuickBooks Online prices are changing?

A: QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced subscription prices are changing on or after the dates shown below the table. QuickBooks Ledger and Intuit Enterprise Suite pricing remains unchanged.

Q: When will the new QuickBooks Online prices go into effect?

A: QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced subscription prices are changing on or after the dates indicated below:

July 1, 2025

  • QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced new and existing client-billed subscriptions.

August 1, 2025

  • QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced existing accountant-billed subscriptions.

Q: Will clients who have signed up recently be impacted by these price changes?

A: Newer clients will retain their current price until their sixth month of tenure. The price change will be reflected in the sixth month of the subscription.

Q: What if I have promotional pricing for QuickBooks Online?

A: If you currently have an active promotional discount, your price will remain the same until the end of the promotion. When the promotion expires, the monthly subscription rate will be adjusted to match the price increase noted here.

Q: How will this price change affect me if my firm is enrolled in the ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing program? 

A: The structure of the ProAdvisor Preferred Pricing program will remain the same. Revenue share payouts will reflect the price changes for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Payroll. Your firm can still pass along a 50% discount for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Payroll to eligible clients for 3 months following a 30-day free trial period. Firms will also continue to receive 30% of the billed price on base fees for 12 months and 15% per employee fees for 12 months for QuickBooks Online Payroll. This applies to QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced and QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium and Elite. Q: What QuickBooks Online Payroll prices are changing?

A:  Base prices for QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, and Elite products and related per employee price changes are changing as shown in the chart below.

Q: When will the new QuickBooks Online Payroll price increases go into effect?

A: QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, and Elite Payroll price changes will occur on or after the dates indicated below:

July 1, 2025

  • QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, and Elite new and client-billed subscriptions.

August 1, 2025

  • QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, and Elite accountant-billed subscriptions.

QuickBooks Desktop pricing

Q: What QuickBooks Desktop Plus prices are changing?

A: QuickBooks Pro Plus, QuickBooks Premier Plus, and QuickBooks Mac Plus subscriptions are changing as shown in the chart below.

Q: When will the new QuickBooks Desktop Plus prices go into effect?

A: QuickBooks Pro Plus, QuickBooks Premier Plus, and QuickBooks Mac Plus subscription prices are changing on or after October 1, 2025. 

As a reminder, we stopped selling new subscriptions of QuickBooks Pro Plus, Premier Plus, and Mac Plus subscriptions, as well as QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll on September 30, 2024. However, we continue to support renewals of existing QuickBooks Pro Plus, Premier Plus, and Mac Plus subscriptions, and Enhanced Payroll subscribers.

Q: Can I still purchase QuickBooks Desktop subscriptions for new clients?

A: QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is still available for purchase and with bundled Desktop Payroll, is a great option for customers who want to stay on Desktop but who are outgrowing Desktop Plus and need more automation, inventory or deeper functionality. 

Neither accountants nor clients can buy new subscriptions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Mac Plus as of September 30, 2024, although we continue to support existing subscriptions.

Please note that Intuit no longer authorizes third parties to sell QuickBooks Desktop Plus or QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Mac products. Any of these products found for sale online across any platform (including Amazon and Google Search) are not authorized by Intuit and are being sold fraudulently. Do not purchase these unauthorized products as they pose a security risk to both customer and financial data or result in fraudulent charges and unfulfilled orders.

Q: Can I renew a suspended QuickBooks Desktop Plus subscription?

A: Yes, you can renew your suspended QuickBooks Desktop Plus subscription. For any billing or payment issues, you are notified via email and Intuit provides a grace period of 30 days to renew after the final notice has been sent out.

Q: What QuickBooks Desktop Accountant prices are changing?

A: QuickBooks Desktop Accountant, ProAdvisor Premier Bundle, and ProAdvisor Enterprise Bundle for new and existing subscriptions are changing as shown in the chart below.

A: QuickBooks Desktop Accountant, ProAdvisor Premier Bundle, and ProAdvisor Enterprise Bundle for new and existing subscription prices are changing on or after October 1, 2025.

Q: What QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise prices are changing?

A: QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Gold, Platinum and Diamond for new and existing subscriptions are changing as shown in the chart below.

Q: When will the new QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise prices go into effect?

A: QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Gold, Platinum, and Diamond price changes will occur on or after the dates indicated below:

Beginning August 1, 2025 

  • QuickBooks Enterprise Gold and Platinum customers who use payroll starting on their next renewal date. The per employee fee will be billed monthly, based on the number of unique employees paid.
  • QuickBooks Enterprise Diamond customers who use payroll starting August 1, 2025. The per employee fee will continue to be billed per pay period.

Q: What QuickBooks Desktop Payroll prices are changing? 

A: QuickBooks Desktop Basic, Enhanced and Assisted Payroll annual and monthly subscriptions are changing as shown in the chart below.

Q: What QuickBooks Desktop Payroll - Legacy Enhanced Unlimited and Limited prices are changing?

A: Prices are changing for QuickBooks Legacy Enhanced Payroll Unlimited and QuickBooks Legacy Enhanced Payroll Limited annual and monthly subscriptions as shown in the chart below.

General questions

Q: Will you be communicating with our clients about these price changes?

A: Yes, we will notify your directly-billed clients on a rolling basis beginning May 27, 2025.

Q: What regions are affected by these increases?

A: The pricing shown here applies to U.S. customers only.

Q: What if I currently have an existing discount or promotion?

A: We will honor any special pricing through the duration of the promotion. Once the promotion ends, the relevant price increase will go into effect.

Q: My client needs a complex solution and isn’t ready for QuickBooks Online. What is the best option for them?

A: QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is a great choice for customers who want to stay on Desktop or have inventory-based businesses. With bundled payroll and deeper functionality than Desktop Plus, customers can get enhanced visibility and controls, plus much more, to help power their business.
