Last October, we made several announcements about Intuit Accountant Suite and the future changes planned for QuickBooks Online Accountant and the Intuit ProAdvisor Program. In connection to those announcements, we also shared several dates and timelines related to availability and pricing. Here is a summary of those announcements and the associated timeline.
Intuit Accountant Suite
What’s happening: In October, we announced the launch of Intuit Accountant Suite. Intuit Accountant Suite has two plans, Core and Accelerate. Both the Core and Accelerate (in beta) plans are currently free. You can also add the Books Close feature (in beta) to both plans at no cost.
The Core plan includes key functionality available today in QuickBooks Online Accountant, with a modern design and navigation. We’re committed to continuing to offer firms with QuickBooks clients access to the Core plan at no cost.
The Accelerate plan and Books Close add-on feature will transition to a paid subscription starting on May 1, 2026. The Core plan will remain free.
We will not switch firms onto the Accelerate plan unless they’ve opted in to do so.
Timeline:
April 30, 2026:
- The final day of the free Books Close beta program.
- The final day of the free Accelerate beta program.
May 1, 2026:
- The Core plan remains free.
- Pricing for the Accelerate plan goes into effect. This pricing is $149 per month. Access to Books Close for the Core and Accelerate plans require the purchase of Books Close add-on.
- Pricing for Books Close goes into effect as an add-on for the Core and Accelerate plans. Books Close pricing is based on client’s onboarded to Books Close:
- $8 per client per month for firms with up to 50 clients.
- $6 per client per month for firms with over 50 clients.
QuickBooks Online Accountant
What’s happening: We will be discontinuing QuickBooks Online Accountant and replacing it with Intuit Accountant Suite. Firms using QuickBooks Online Accountant will be switched to the free Core plan starting between the summer and December 2026. We will not switch QuickBooks Online Accountant accounts into the Accelerate plan unless their primary admin has opted in to do so.
We will provide more details in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition to Intuit Accountant Suite. Our priority is to create a seamless, positive experience for QuickBooks Online Accountant users and minimize downtown.
Timeline:
Summer - December 2026:
- We will begin switching QuickBooks Online Accountant firms to Intuit Accountant Suite.
December 2026:
- QuickBooks Online Accountant will be discontinued.
Intuit ProAdvisor Program
What’s happening: At Intuit Connect, we announced that we’ll be launching a new global partner program for accounting professionals and firms. The new global program, integrated into Intuit Accountant Suite, will feature a tiered structure with benefits focused on helping accountants grow their firm, efficiently deliver client services, and upskill their staff. The current ProAdvisor Program will be replaced by this new global program.
Timeline:
May 2026:
- We will announce the framework for the new global program.
January 2027:
