The window to recertify is April 28, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

Recertification is a key way to maintain and showcase your knowledge about the most important innovations made across the Intuit platform. The exam is open from April 28-June 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT.

This year’s training and exam features updates on exciting new innovations, including the launch of Intuit Accountant Suite, and an introduction of its core functionality and benefits. Other updates include the following:

  • The user interface and the introduction of Intuit AI.
  • Sales and customers workflows, including Payments AI and the new Customer Hub.
  • Expenses and vendors workflows, including AI features and Bill Pay basic, now being included in QuickBooks subscriptions.
  • Banking and accounting workflows, including the AI-powered bank transactions screen and Accounting AI.

  • Self-paced modules designed with your busy schedule in mind.
  • A virtual conference with expert trainers on May 12 at 9 AM PT; register here.
  • A webinar that will run bi-weekly.

There are two distinct ways to recertify:

  1. Take the self-paced course, answer all knowledge checks, and pass the course exam with a score of 80% or higher.
  2. If you’re already up to date, you can attempt the test-out option. You should take the exam in one sitting, and you’ll have three attempts to pass.

Who has to recertify?

If you took the certification before November 1, 2025, you are required to pass the recertification exam by June 30, 2026, to retain your certificated status. The best way to verify your status is in ProAdvisor Academy. The 2026 recertification will only be visible if you need to recertify.

I am Level 1 Certified. How do I recertify?

This year, you’ll find two distinct ways to recertify: 

  1. Course-level exam Take the self-paced course, answer all knowledge checks, and pass the course exam with a score of 80% or higher. 
  2. Test-out: Or - if you’re already up to date, you can attempt the test-out option. You should take the exam in one sitting, and you’ll have three attempts to pass before a 10-day cool down period kicks-in.

I am Level 2 Certified. How do I recertify?

This year, you’ll find two distinct ways to recertify: 

  1. Course-level exam Take the Level 2 self-paced courses, answer all knowledge checks, and pass the course exams with a score of 80% or higher. 
  2. Test-out: Or - if you’re already up to date, you can attempt the test-out option. The test-out exam will test you on concepts from the self-paced course. You should take the exam in one sitting, and you’ll have three attempts to pass before a 10-day cool down period kicks-in.

What if I passed the Level 2, (formerly Advanced) Certification on or after November 1, 2025? Do I need to recertify this year?

The recertification requirements are based on your highest level of certification, so if you completed QuickBooks Online Level 1 prior to November 2025, and QuickBooks Online Level 2 after November 2025, you are set until the next recertification season in 2027!

Where do I access the recertification exam and training?

The recertification exam and training can be accessed in ProAdvisor Academy.  

  • If you are required to recertify, you will automatically be enrolled in the program.
  • The exam and training will be available April 28, 2026, through June 30, 2026, 11:59 PM PT.

When do I need to complete the recertification?

You must pass all sections of the exam by 11:59 PM PT, on June 30, 2026. We recommend starting the recertification as soon as you are able.

What’s the best way to prepare for recertification?

We have many ways to support your education to prepare for the exam:

How long does the recertification exam usually take?

We recommend setting aside 30 minutes for the Level 1 exam, and 45 minutes for the Level 2 exam. That said, your familiarity with QuickBooks Online will heavily influence the time it takes for you to certify.

Is there a limit to the number of tries I get to pass the exam?

After three unsuccessful attempts on the test-out exam, a 10-day cool-down period will kick-in. During this time, you can always dive into the course to study up. For this reason, we recommend that you begin the recertification exam at your earliest opportunity.
