Jaclyn Anku, ProAdvisor Training & Certification Leader: On today's episode of In the Know, we'll be exploring updates to HR guidance for QuickBooks Online Payroll. Now, Premium and Elite payroll customers can benefit from using Mineral QuickBooks HR compliance partner.
Hey, ProAdvisors, it's Jaclyn, and you're watching In the Know, where you get exclusive access to demos of Intuit product enhancements by the leaders who built them.
Let's jump right in with Kev for a look at Mineral. Kev, welcome.
Kev Lubega: Hey, Jaclyn, thanks for having me. I'm excited to be on the show. My name is Kev. I'm on the product team at Intuit, and as Jaclyn mentioned, I'm going to walk you through our Mineral partnership.
To give you some context, we heard a lot from our customers that keeping track of the ever-changing HR laws and different regulations was time consuming, extremely expensive—especially when you need to get legal help—and also introduced compliance risk for these customers. And so we heard them loud and clear; we launched a partnership with a company called Mineral to provide HR advice to our QuickBooks Payroll Premium and Elite customers, so these customers can access resources that guide them through different HR processes.Think hiring benefits, termination and compensation.
All right, so, some Fast Facts:
- Again, this is applicable to QuickBooks Payroll Premium and Elite customers.
- You're able to access this by going to the payroll app in QuickBooks, the HR advisor tab in payroll, and there'll be a large CTA to go to midroll.
- This has been in production for a long time. We've had it since 2019, so customers have already been using it, and I would love for more customers to benefit from this.
Let's jump into a demo of Mineral. As I mentioned, you can access it through the payroll app on the left-hand side and the HR advisor tab within payroll. You'll see that massive CTA to go to Mineral, and this will redirect you to a new tab. So just walking you through all the different functionality here, starting from left to right, the HR compliance tab highlights the different laws and regulations that apply to different businesses and general information about HR topics.
So, for example, if I click into the compliance dashboard, you're able to see the different laws that apply to companies at different stages of their growth, for example, depending on the number of employees they have. If you look at, say, the ACA Compliance Act, a company would qualify for that if they have 50 or more employees. And so Mineral provides us a general overview of what applies to customers at different stages.
Another example is there's a section where customers can see different law alerts that have come into effect or that are about to come into effect in the different states they operate in. And on the side here, you can navigate to choose what specific topic you're interested in, what specific stage you're in, or how many employees you have, and that will tailor the experience that you see. Moving to the next tab, this company Policies tab provides a way for customers to create an employee handbook. Customers will provide some very specific information, and Mineral will create a handbook based on a specific state.
So you'll put in your information where your employees are and some custom information you want your employees to know. For example, this could include paid time off, policies, benefits, policies, and Mineral will create a handbook for you, leveraging all the knowledge about different compliance requirements and laws in your state.
Now there's some tools you have to pay extra for. For example, the safety and training products you have to pay extra for, because this is not included as part of the Premium and Elite subscription. They may be talking a little bit more about the training piece. Customers are able to set up training courses for their employees. So, for example, if you have compliance training, any learning and development that you want your employees to go through, you can create and host them in this product. Moving over to the next tab, the HR tools’ tab is a way for customers to use pre-built tools to help them make HR decisions. So, for example, Mineral has a minimum wage map. So, if you are thinking about hiring employees in different states, you're able to just quickly hover over the different states to see what those employees should be paid.
In addition, there are all sorts of different calculators to help you have a better understanding of what the cost of HR could be for your business. For example, you can calculate what the cost per hire is by putting specific information about your business, employees, and recruitment costs. And lastly, in the template section, you're able to see pre-built templates you can use for different HR processes. So, for example, if I select a template based on a theme, you're able to see different forms that you can use for benefits. For example, you’ll be able to see different letters or templates they can use for hiring and compensation. These are designed in a way that is going to be compliant with the laws and regulations of your state and your county.
And that's most of the demo. I hope you get to use it at some point in the future.
