Arti Patel Martinez, ProAdvisor Training & Certification Leader: On today's episode of In the Know, we'll explore the Business Tax AI Agent Feature.

Hey ProAdvisors, it's Arti, and you're watching In the Know, where you get exclusive access to demos of Intuit product enhancements by the leaders who built them.

Let's jump right in with Tricia, who will show us the new Business Tax AI feature.

Tricia, welcome!

Tricia DelGaudio: Hey. Thanks, Artie. And thanks for having me, Accountant community.

I'd like to tell you a little bit about one of our newest AI features that just launched this month in QuickBooks

Here's what we really want to get into. We know that what you do for your clients, and how you keep them in business, is core to the service you provide. That means putting more money in your customers’ and your clients’ pockets.

One way that we know you can do that is through tax deductions. So with Business Tax AI the first skill we’re introducing is our Deduction Maximizer. This is really about proactive ways to find deductions within your books and accounting. We're leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and the business type of your clients to look for missed deductions within their books that align with the type of business they're running.

So let's talk a little bit more about some Fast Facts.

  • This is going to be available to our QuickBooks customers who are designated businesses of sole proprietors, S Corporations, and partnerships.
  • It is available to 95% of QuickBooks Online customers in our core SKUs of Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced.

You can get to this in your Core navigation, which I'll show you in a minute, through the Business Tax App. And we have this in our Overview tab as part of our Get Ready checklist.

So let's take a look. One of the core things you're going to need to do is get to this feature. I'm going to show you in our Business feed, here, we have these little tiles that have direct links into the Biz Tax App. So that's our first way. Top of screen. The second way is you can actually go into All Apps and go to the Business Tax App in our Overview tab. So these are two core ways that you can access this Deduction Maximizer AI feature.

When we get into the Business Tax Overview App, you will see “Get Your 2025 Taxes Ready.” We will scale this as the years come, but within there, there's a new flag that says Missing Deductions with a Let's Go button. When you go there, you will get to this page. And what I'm going to do, rather than talk you through this, is actually show you how this works.

So I'm going to show you a short demo video on how this new AI Deduction Maximizer works.

This video is a brief demonstration of the Business Tax AI Deduction Maximizer skill for release in February 2026.

There are multiple access points to the skill, including the business feed, which has a tile that leads directly to the experience. As well, users can access the skill from the Business Tax Overview.

Here, there's a checklist with the Missing Deductions row where you can get started. The system uses an LLM behind the scenes to personalize the experience for each customer based on providing information about the customer's industry and entity type like S Corp, sole proprietorship, or partnership, as well as revenue range and number of employees. The skill is designed to identify potential expenses the business may have missed.

For instance, these could be missed because the bank account used for the expense wasn't connected to QuickBooks, or the expense was paid in cash.

The demonstration shows a customer in the Pet and Pet Supply industry. By clicking into a tax category, a user gets more information such as the total amount spent in that tax category so far for the year.

The system lists potential missed expenses that are specific to the customer's industry, such as sponsoring a local animal shelter event or printing fliers for a local veterinary office.

The skill also indicates which of these items is already in the books, preventing guesswork. Users can also view all the transactions aggregated to date.

From the lists of potential expenses, a user could take one of a few actions:

  • They can set a reminder. If the user doesn't have the receipt or can't remember the amount, they can set a reminder that auto fills the expense description in the schedule for 30 days later.
  • They can also add a new expense. There's a link that guides users and how to add the expense. This section includes a quick link on how to record the expense, especially if it was paid from personal funds, as the procedure might vary based on entity type. Adding the new expense opens the Expense Drawer in QuickBooks.

These are some of the ways Business Tax AI can bring personal tax savings to QuickBooks customers through the Deduction Maximizer Skill.

So I really hope you've enjoyed seeing the first AI skill from our Biz Tax AI. We've got a lot more coming, so stay tuned. Tell your clients about this, use it, and give us feedback so we can continue to improve it for you. Thanks a lot.

Arti Patel Martinez: Thanks so much for that walkthrough, Tricia.
