Intuit QuickBooks is on a mission to help businesses succeed. To accomplish this, we recognize the important role accounting professionals play in ensuring small business success. That’s why we’re focused on connecting 100% of businesses on our QuickBooks platform to accounting professionals, whether they’re ProAdvisors, independent accountants, bookkeepers, or experts employed by Intuit through our QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping services.
In 2019, we introduced QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping (Full-Service Bookkeeping), a monthly subscription service that provides virtual bookkeeping for businesses using QuickBooks Online who are not currently connected to ProAdvisors and accounting professionals.
We know that business owners connected to an accounting professional are more successful and confident in running their business. Through Full-Service Bookkeeping, we’ve successfully connected businesses that were doing their own books with dedicated QuickBooks Live bookkeepers who now maintain those books—giving owners a peace of mind and more time to focus on growing their business.
QuickBooks Live Assisted Bookkeeping: A do-it-with-me experience
As QuickBooks Live Bookkeeping has evolved, we’ve identified the need for a different level of support for business owners who want to manage their own books. These businesses want affordable access to QuickBooks Online-certified experts who can provide guidance and answer questions about file setup, automation, categorization, reconciliation, and more, all while they maintain their own books.
To fill that gap and help businesses succeed, we’ll begin testing what we’re calling “QuickBooks Live Assisted Bookkeeping” (Assisted Bookkeeping). This new program offers businesses access to QuickBooks experts who will provide guidance without taking control of their books—someone who will “do it with me,” rather than “do it for me”—at a lower cost.
We’ll begin piloting the program in April 2023 with a few hundred small business customers who are not attached to a ProAdvisor or accounting professional. In June 2023, we’ll expand the test to include more customers. You may see the offer on the QuickBooks website homepage, and pricing page, if you land on one of the test pages. Based on feedback from customers in the pilot, we expect to make Assisted Bookkeeping available in the United States soon. Like our existing Full-Service subscription, we will not be marketing this service to businesses connected to a ProAdvisor or accountant.
How it will work
Customers will subscribe to Assisted Bookkeeping by visiting the Live Bookkeeping tab in the QuickBooks left navigation bar. Once subscribed, whenever a business owner has QuickBooks questions or needs more advanced help, they use the same tab to submit a request for a call from an expert. Our QuickBooks experts will call them within minutes.
A QuickBooks Live Assisted Bookkeeping subscription includes:
- Access to trained bookkeepers and QuickBooks product experts who will support the specific needs of the customer at that time.
- Teaching a business owner bookkeeping best practices across topics, including:
- Automation
- Categorization
- Financial reports and dashboards
- Reconciliation
- Workflow creation and management
- Answering specific questions related to their books, their business, and their QuickBooks products.
The subscription pricing during pilot (subject to change) is $50* per month.
Who provides the service
The Assisted Bookkeeping team are Intuit employees, and QuickBooks Online or Online Advanced Certified ProAdvisors. Their qualifications include at least one of the following:
- Active Certified Public Accountant
- Active Certified Public Bookkeeper
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
- 3+ years managing books for a small business
All bookkeepers are ProAdvisors and have:
- An active QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Online Advanced certification, and
- A minimum of one year of experience working with QuickBooks Online.
What’s next
We anticipate the pilot will run for a few months, as we gather customer and operational feedback. We’ll keep you updated as Assisted Bookkeeping evolves.

FAQs about QuickBooks Live Assisted Bookkeeping
Is QuickBooks Live Assisted Bookkeeping available to everyone now?
No. We’re testing the new service with a few hundred businesses beginning in April 2023, and expanding the test to a bigger audience in June 2023. You may see the offer on the QuickBooks homepage and pricing page if you land on one of the test pages. We’ll keep you informed about progress, and let you know when the service will be rolled out more broadly.
Will QuickBooks Live Assisted Bookkeeping be offered to businesses who already have an accountant or are connected to a ProAdvisor?
No. Our commitment is to offer Assisted Bookkeeping to businesses who aren’t connected to a ProAdvisor, bookkeeper, or accountant.
How is Assisted Bookkeeping different from Full-Service Bookkeeping?
QuickBooks Live Full-Service Bookkeeping is a more comprehensive subscription service where the customer works with a dedicated expert. The bookkeeper accesses a business’ books and performs ongoing management for them. They do the work for the business.
With Assisted Bookkeeping, the business manages their own books and the customer may work with a different expert each time. The bookkeeper works along with them using video, phone, and screen share capabilities to advise on best practices. The expert isn’t actually working in the business’ books. They do the work with the customer.
