Confident decisions start with clean books
You now have the option to leverage Intuit Experts—Intuit-employed bookkeeping and tax specialists—directly in your QuickBooks Online subscriptions Simple Start and above. Intuit Experts work alongside you to help set new clients up for success and validate the accuracy of AI-powered output in QuickBooks.
For all accountant-attached Intuit customers, Intuit Expert services are automatically switched off by default. Nothing will be enacted without a deliberate decision from you or, on client-billed accounts, from your client.
The controls live in Account Settings inside each client's QBO file. Who can access them depends on how the subscription is billed:
- Firm-billed: Your firm decides if and when these services are available to your clients. They're off by default—you choose whether to turn them on, giving your firm control over whether Intuit Experts enter the relationship.
- Client-billed: Also off by default. You can turn them on anytime from within each client's QBO file, and your client can too. We recommend aligning on these settings directly with your client.
Either way, you have full flexibility: handle review and validation yourself, or opt in to Intuit Expert services client by client, based on their needs.
Which Intuit Expert services are offered?
Here are the services provided if you and your client choose to utilize an Intuit Expert as part of their QuickBooks Online subscription:
- Review AI-flagged anomalies – Books Check-In: a scheduled annual session between an Intuit bookkeeping expert and your client, where the expert reviews the current state of the books and walks through any AI-flagged anomalies together. (QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus)
- Transaction categorization with expert verification – Smart Expert Categorization: AI-assisted transaction categorization with expert verification running in the background, so your client's books stay up to date between your touch points with them. (QuickBooks Online Plus; included in Expert Books Upkeep in Advanced)
- AI-powered bookkeeping, validated by experts – Expert Books Upkeep: combines Books Check-In and Smart Expert Categorization into one comprehensive service, adding AI transaction matching, expert validation and posting, regular accuracy checks, and quarterly check-in meetings. (Advanced)
For firm-billed subscriptions, nothing happens without your explicit consent. If a client tries to turn on these services first, they'll see this prompt: "Your accountant may already provide similar bookkeeping services as part of your agreement. Double-check with them before using Intuit Experts."
Through the Expert Hub, you can maintain read-only oversight of your client-billed accounts utilizing Intuit Expert services, allowing you to track their progress, view upcoming call schedules, and read summary notes. Accountants cannot schedule calls or initiate contact on your client's behalf.
Intelligent Onboarding combines AI and Intuit Experts to help new customers get set up right. They receive expert-led support for the first 90 days or until onboarding is complete, whichever comes first, with multiple calls if needed. During onboarding, Intuit Experts set up key platform capabilities like Payments and Bill Pay correctly from the start—meaning less intake cleanup for you later. Intelligent Onboarding is available to new clients in Simple Start, Essentials, Plus, and Advanced.
