Arti Patel Martinez, ProAdvisor Training & Certification Leader: On today's episode of In the Know, we'll be showcasing new improvements to QuickBooks.
Hey ProAdvisors, it's Arti, and you're watching In the Know, where you get exclusive access to demos of Intuit product enhancements by the leaders who built them.
Let's jump right in with Stacey Blanchard, who is going to show us the new updates to QuickBooks.
Stacey, welcome to the show.
Stacey Blanchard: Nice to meet everybody, and thank you for being here. Just a quick intro; my name's Stacy Blanchard, and I sit on the platform product marketing team based in New York. As already mentioned, I'm going to be taking you guys through some specific kind of core foundational improvements we've been making based specifically on all of your feedback.
Just as an overview, I'm sure you've heard a lot about all of the new amazing innovations that Intuit and QuickBooks has been delivering, whether it be Intuit Intelligence or Payments AI. But as we know, building new things is only half the job, and we've really been taking a hard look at the feedback that you all have been giving us, listening to that, and making improvements on the everyday workflows that you rely on most.
So you guys told us what matters most, and that's where all of our great product teams focused first. They have made more than 175 improvements to date, and this is only the initial stages. We're committed to continuing to focus on these improvements over time. Today, I'll just give you a snapshot of a few. I'm not going to go through all 175. Don't worry. I'll give you an overview of some that we've heard loud and clear.
First, when it comes to smarter bank transaction matching, we're implementing things like duplicate warnings, so they appear before you post a transaction, not after. We also will be introducing a confidence signal within the actual matching suggestion, so you will be able to essentially know where you can kind of breeze through the match suggestion versus spending more time to review it based on that confidence signal.
From a categorization perspective, suggestions will now refresh faster after you categorize a similar transaction, which makes moving through a big batch much more efficient. We're also working on duplicate or conflicting rule flags that you can review ahead of time, instead of applying whichever rule comes first. Again, making the rules and the duplicate rule flags more upfront in the product UI so that you can see them very clearly.
We've also heard a lot, going back to the polling question, that the speed of some of our workflows has started to become a bit slow, and so we have been working to improve load times, not only across our homepage, but across many of the core workflows you use day in and day out. Then, also from a homepage perspective, we're making a lot of improvements to make it cleaner, more customizable. We allow you to resize and reorder widgets to suit how you want your personal workflows to work and what makes most sense for you. You may have heard that we implemented keyboard shortcuts. Well, we've now expanded the shortcuts to over 100. For all of you power users out there, hopefully this is good news. They span across the tasks that you guys do the most.
From a reports perspective, we've made more than 50 improvements to largely usability and navigation areas. This includes improving labels, columns that now show all of your data, and pages that print exactly as they appear, bringing the new reports experience more up to par with the previous experience and also your expectations. Then, lastly, we heard that you were having to sign in multiple times in a short period of time. We're now rolling out changes to keep folks logged in securely longer, so that you're not having to relog in and re-verify multiple times. Again, that's just a snapshot. Hopefully, those are helpful ideas of where we're heading and/or where we've improved so far, and where we're heading in the future based on all of your feedback. Now, I think we'll do Q&A.
Arti Patel Martinez: Thanks, Stacy. I know that's a lot, and there are definitely a lot of questions coming in in the chat. I'm going to do just a couple quick questions. Let's see, where can I access the keyboard shortcut guide?
Stacey Blanchard: Yes, so you can pull up the whole shortcut guide at any time when you're working in the product. If you're on a PC, you just hit the Ctrl + Alt + question mark. If you're on a Mac, you can hit Cmd + Opt + question mark. We will find the right resource to route those commands to you if you don't have a pen right now or jotted them down. That's how you access them in the product, and the guide is updated regularly and you can print it, so that you only have to remember that commit once. The shortcuts span across things like banking lists, transaction forms, reports. I think those are the big areas.
Arti Patel Martinez: Wonderful, thank you. Do these improvements bring the new reports experience closer to the classic reports experience?
Stacey Blanchard: Yes. These enhancements address the most common friction points we've heard most frequently on the new modern reports experience, so things like accounts now displaying in the chart of accounts order across general ledger, P&L, balance sheet. We've improved sorting capabilities, reports printing exactly as they appear, which I think I mentioned before. More is still coming. We're not completely finished, but yes, that's exactly where we've focused a lot of the improvements.
Arti Patel Martinez: Awesome. Okay, and let's do one more. Are the categorization improvements addressing issues with credit card payment categorization?
Stacey Blanchard: Yes, great question. So clearer credit card handling is meant to reduce double counting, misclassification issues that show up during month-end review. Just one example: We're clarifying how credit card payments are labeled and categorized with clear account names. We've heard that's something that's been a pain point, and this is in progress. So, there again, we're not done with every single categorization improvement, but that's just a quick sample of what we're what we've worked on so far.
Arti Patel Martinez: Thanks so much for that walkthrough, Stacey. If you find this update interesting or helpful, go ahead and like, comment and subscribe. That's all we have for now.
